In the course of the year, there are certain to be times when you need to contact the school. It’s our policy to ensure that we acknowledge all calls and letters within 24 hours and do our best to respond within two working days.
The Learning Tutor is your natural first point of contact in relation to welfare, achievement and support. Tutors can particularly help over uniform, progress or friendship issues, problems with a subject or with homework. You can get in touch by leaving a message with reception, via e-mail or simply writing a note in your child’s Planner.
If you need to contact the school over day-to-day issues such as attendance, bus passes or other practical issues, please ask for or visit Student Services. Likewise, if you need to drop off anything during the school day, it’s best to come into student services in the area next to Reception.
Any concerns or enquiries about home learning please use link on our website or phone the school directly. To improve our monitoring of this, please contact Clare Hatto (Assistant Principal) through the link on our website or by phone.
Head of Hall/Learning co-ordinators oversee everything that goes in a hall/year group with a wider brief for the grades, progress, behaviour, uniform and attendance . Staff in these roles can sort out issues your tutor can’t. Please get in touch through reception, letter or call direct:
Key Stage Directors are like day-to-day headteachers of each part of the school, ensuring that everything is as good as possible for the whole key stage. If you have been in contact with a head of hall or learning coordinator and the problems are continuing we will make sure that the Key Stage Director or another senior member of staff is involved in any subsequent meeting.
Every parent and student has a right to see the Mr Williams or Mr Gibson over any issue they wish to raise. We will do all we can to resolve any issues you wish to raise. In general, we would recommend that you talk with staff who are more directly involved first.
The school has a dedicated team which deals with examination entries, venues and seating, certificates, special considerations and other requests. The team also provides progress reports for all students.
Finally, parents have a right to raise any issue with the Chair of Governors who will respond in circumstances where you are unhappy with the Principal’s and school’s response.
