Principal at King Edward VII School in Melton Mowbray, Chris Williams, has announced that he will be taking on a challenging national role as Senior Secondary Director with the National Strategies, part of a government initiative to improve and personalise learning.

Mr Williams, who has been Principal at the school for the last four years, will be leaving his current post at the end of the summer term.

Chris Williams said: “I would like to thank students, staff, governors, parents and for all their support during my time as principal at King Edward VII. I am sad to be leaving at a time when the school has such an exciting future, but I am looking forward to my new role and would like to wish the school’s next principal all the best for the future.”

Director of Leicestershire County Council’s Children’s and Young People’s Service, Gareth Williams, said: “I would like to thank Chris Williams for all his hard work as Principal at King Edward VII and wish him every success in his new position.

“King Edward VII has a key role to play in the reorganisation of schools in Melton Mowbray and the Vale of Belvoir. We will ensure that the school has experienced leadership in place to take forward the exciting new developments at King Edward VII and the Post-16 Centre.”
