August 2006
A stunning 99.5% of students at King Edward VII School, Melton Mowbray, achieved A-level passes this year in a cohort of 179. This completes a remarkable hat-trick of year on year new records for the school and a 1.5% improvement on the previous best in 2005.
Fraser Mitchell, Assistant Principal - Director of Post 16, was delighted for the students and the school “These are a fantastic set of results. It means that virtually everyone who takes A-levels here is guaranteed success. There’s also some great news behind that 99% headline – our number of highest achievers is up too. We’ve enjoyed significant increases in our number of A and B grades this year.”
30 subject areas achieved 100% pass rates. There were 83 A grade passes, almost twenty per cent of grades awarded and two thirds of students achieved at least a grade C in all subjects.
Principal, Chris Williams, praised everybody involved. “This is another set of exceptional results – I’m delighted that the hard work of our students and the imaginative teaching of our staff have been repaid with such outstanding success.”
