King Edward VII vs Catmose School

King Edward VII win by 14 runs

King Edward VII travelled to Catmose School with a mixture of year 7 and 8's for there first game of the school cricket season.

The weather was not ideal for cricket, Captain Wade won the toss and elected to bat first, and with partner Woolcott started to attack the Catmose bowling, however a partnership of 22 was cut short when Wade played a stray shot into the hands of a Catmose fielder. This made way for Josh Limbrick who showed the King Edward VII side how to bat, going straight onto the attack, hitting a six and four 4's on his way to 25 and retirement, and the batting performance of the game. Woolcott soon followed Limbrick back to the pavillion when a wild shot was played and missed, allowing the ball to hit middle wicket. The next batsmen for King Edward VII were told to go on the attack, with Heaver and Brown putting a a number of runs before they were dismissed. Cooper was scoring steadily and Tomblin, fresh from watching the 20/20 at trent bridge had promised runs, but nearly fell foul on his first ball when a heavy top edge was dropped by a catmose fielder. He was not so lucky the second time and the catmose fielder held on to the ball after a wild shot from Tomblin. Cooper, Tebbat and Lambert saw out the final few overs leaving Catmose chasing a total of 89.

Hoping that his bowling was better than his batting Tomblin opened the bowling with Cooper and put the Catmose under immense pressure, but with some good strokes and a bit of luck the opening pair for Catmose began to clock up the runs and soon the opening batsman had retired on 25 not out. This was the turning point and soon wickets began to fall, Limbrick striking first with a wicked ball taking middle wicket. The next wicket came soon after with a great bit of fielding from Heaver saw an excellent run out. Woolcott then wanted in on the action and duely took 3 wickets in one over.

The bowling remained solid, not allowing Catmose to score any runs and the next wicket soon fell with Tomblin running out a slow Catmose batter. with only a few overs remaining, young Tom Lambert was bought into the attack, a delivered his first wicket of his King Edward VII career, bowling the Catmose batter clean out. King Edward VII bowled the last overs nice and tight not allowing Catmose to score and giving them their first victory by 14 runs.
