Staff and friends held a highly successful quiz night to raise funds for LOROS. The quiz was organised in memory of one of their colleagues, Mrs Kim Pollard, who passed away from Cancer at Christmas. The quiz night started with a Hog roast and raffle which was then followed by several rounds of trivia and challenge to seek out the best brains at King Edward. The undefeated champions for the second time were a team called Veterans +1 but it was very close! King Edward VII School handed over a final cheque to LOROS for a staggering £1146.92.
Christian Weikert-Picker, Community Fundraiser for LOROS, stated "We are truly grateful to King Edward VII School for their tremendous support. Loros relies on donations to fund the services free of charge. This shows the generosity of the community and the thought from staff for a colleagues battle with Cancer. King Edward VII School support our charity through many activities and events throughout the year and this is a great bonus to boost the funds. Their continued support to LOROS is appreciated year on year and this one event where they have worked hard, their efforts have been rewarded."
Ray Waring, Director of Support Services said, "Cara and our colleagues have done a fantastic job in raising awareness of the work of Loros. My own family (like so many others) has been struck by this devastating disease that has taken so many friends and colleagues from us at king Edwards. We all need to help in any way possible to minimise its impact."
Organiser Cara Leeder, remarked, "It is a demonstration of our community spirit at King Edward, that so many staff and local businesses have supported the event and what a fantastic way of remembering a fun loving colleague. I am really grateful to all who came along to the event and to all the local businesses who helped make it such a successful night."
