Rotary Club Young Chef Competition

On Tuesday 12th November, 7 of our KS3 students took part in the heats for a place in the final of the Young Chef competition.

The entrants were Tori Kinniburgh, Isla Parmar, Josh Allis, Beth Limbrick, Ella Stapleford, Katie Glover and Harry Lambert. They had planned and sweated over hot stoves for days to perfect their dishes!

The menus included such mouth watering delicacies as, ‘Spicy Chicken’ and ‘Mango Split’, ‘Thai Fishcakes’, ‘Lemon Lime & Ginger syllabub’, ‘Toad in the hole’

‘Homemade Mince Pies & brandy butter’, ‘Gammon and homemade Apple crumble & whipped cream’, ‘Salmon & hollandaise sauce’

‘Strawberry cheesecake with strawberry coulis’, ‘Lasagne and homemade chocolate brownies with chocolate sauce’, ‘Smoked haddock and baby leek risotto’ and ‘sponge pudding and fresh berries and coulis’.

All of the students produced excellent results and were all potential winners.

The judges were amazed at the fantastic high standards and were in a truly difficult position when deliberating over the winners.

Eventually they voted Harry Lambert the winner, with Ella Stapleford and Josh Allis as runners up!

All 3 will go through to the finals on December the 6th held at King Edward VII. The judges also gave Isla Parmer a special commendation for her dishes.
