School Uniform

At King Edward VII we believe that our uniform supports effective teaching and learning for a number of reasons, including:

• To instil pride
• To support positive behaviour and discipline
• To encourage identity with, and support for, school ethos
• To ensure pupils of all races and backgrounds feel welcome
• To protect children from social pressures to dress in a particular way
• To nurture cohesion and promote good relations between different groups of pupils

School Uniform (for all years)

• Navy Blazer with the school crest
• White formal shirt
• School Tie (clip on for Years 7 and 8)
• Navy sweater, cardigan or slip over with gold trim
• Suitable topcoat.
• Plain black shoes with low heels. No trainers or boots
• Charcoal trousers and skirts
• Trousers must be tailored not fashion items such as flares. Belts must be black in colour and attached through belt loops.
• Jewellery and visible body piercing are not permitted in school for reasons of loss, damage and safety. These exceptions are allowed:-
• one pair of earrings which are small studs.
• one flat ring
• one wrist watch
• Hair must be of 'natural' looking colour with no 'extreme' styles
• Discreet makeup may be worn.

PE Kit (for years 7-10)

• Polo shirt with school crest
• Navy blue shorts
• Navy socks
• Tracksuit with school crest on bottoms and top

As a school we are aware of the following areas (as raised in the DCSF guidelines). In the enforcement of the school uniform policy we will give due consideration to;

• Race equality policy
